New course: Spaces & Interfaces

Posted Jan 16-2012

I am offering a new course this semester that will finally test the work I have been doing with the NETLab Toolkit in architectural scenario. Students will be using Arduinos and other microcontrollers to build small interaction scenarios. Rather than treating these technologies as extensions of an established set of tools for form-making and material research, we will be revisiting the discourses of "events" of the early 1970s in an attempt to consider the effects of computing on program and modes of inhabitation. We will focus on the role of the digitally controlled object or appliance in mediating between inhabitant and architectural space.
